The Caravan Publicitaire travels the route of each stage of the Tour de France around 2 hours or so ahead of the race. All the Tour's sponsors are entitled to place their weirdly modified vehicles (this is incredibly tame) in the caravan, and from them chuck cheap plastic tat to the crowds lining the road. Quite what these lads expected to get from a firm dedicated to "independent and active seniors" is anyone's guess, but they seemed terribly excited by the prospect.
When the Tour came to Yorkshire a few years ago and crossed Ilkley Moor there was some thought that the caravan might be banned, or at least curtailed, because of course on Ilkley Moor they bar tat. Sorry!
