Folkestone Harbour Railway Station The station was opened on 1st January 1849. During the First World War it became known as the gateway to the trenches. Over 10 million service personnel traveled through the station to board ships to the front lines. For many Folkestone Harbour Station was their last footings on British soil. On 31st of May 2014 the line was officially closed.
