Is there any future in being a freelance photographer?
When I retired I made my hobby into a future career having won a few competitions spurred me on to have a go! having got a small studio in 2016 was a big learning curve for building a website and marketing myself. Luck came in the form of my makeup artist who pushed a few models my way, I was doing ok shooting profiles for agents, models, and students entering the film industry, but then the pandemic struck and I had to close the studio in 2020 my last shoot was a fashion catwalk in Camden London cost a fortune in petrol parking charges I did film back shoots and did a bit of acting and SA work great fun but a lot of hanging around never made any money. I now realize that the money is in the family and the baby shoots
Being retired and joining the ranks of the amateurs, (I hate that word non-professional is a better description ) with the cost of living, one has to think twice before going out in the car, it is so easy to sit at home as I have done for months. I have got to get more motivated and got back behind the camera. I'm now back at college working toward an advanced photography diploma I have learned to shoot in monochrome with a 120mm large frame camera and find the film and find film processing more creative than digital
